What should I wear?
- Firstly, bring options. It’s better to have too many outfits to work with than not enough. Anything that can be slipped on over the top of another piece of clothing is a bonus when shooting on location, as there is rarely a good place to get changed.
- Secondly, even if you never iron your clothes, shoot day is the time to start! While it might be tempting to pick that favourite outfit out of the laundry basket and rush out the door, awesome clothes won’t have the same effect if they’re wrinkled.
- For headshots, neutral colours are often best. Anything overly bright or patterned can distract from the real star of the show… You! That said, if you have a favourite outfit that makes you feel amazing every time you wear it, bring it along, it just might work!
- Most importantly, don’t leave it until the last minute to organise your outfits; give yourself time to make sure that you’re happy with your clothing choices. And did I mention ironing?
What if it rains on the day of my location shoot?
We can control many things about shoot day, unfortunately weather just isn’t one of them! If the weather isn’t ideal for shooting outside, we’ll rearrange the shoot for another day.
Can you Photoshop all of my wrinkles/freckles/imperfections?
I mean, I could… but I won’t. When retouching portraits and headshots, I go for a ‘less is more’ approach. These images should represent you, and they can’t do that if all of those little things that make you ‘you’ are smoothed over and edited to perfection. Nobody’s flawless, life would be so boring if we were! That said, if you have a huge pimple show up on the day of your shoot, I’ve got you covered.
Should I use a hair and makeup artist?
It’s really up to you. If you are someone who is confident doing your own hair and makeup then, go for it! But if it’s not your forte, it wouldn’t hurt to get it done professionally. Headshots are an investment, it’s better to spend a little more and be really happy with the result.
What if I need to change the date of my shoot?
All good, things happen! For location shoots we can postpone with 24 hours notice, however for studio shoots 72 hours is required or there may be fees to change the date.
